Web3Health
UGA SensorWeb Lab
Research-backed • Privacy-first • User-controlled sharing
A research-backed app that lets users collect and share their wearable
health metrics with participating studies using privacy-first,
blockchain-enabled research infrastructure.
Web3Health is part of an ongoing academic research project conducted
by the UGA SensorWeb Lab. Features and data-handling workflows are
actively being refined to support ethical, privacy-aware research
participation.
What the app does
-
Securely reads health metrics you consent to share (e.g., steps,
distance, heart rate, sleep, calories).
-
Lets you opt into specific sharing opportunities with
universities, research studies, or trusted buyers.
-
Uploads only the windows of data you approve; you can pause or
cancel at any time.
-
Stores records on a secure backend; sensitive data benefits from
HTTPS in transit and managed encryption at rest.
Who is it for?
- Participants in SensorWeb Lab studies.
-
Individuals who want granular control over their wearable data.
- Partners who value consent, transparency, and auditability.
Permissions used
-
Health data access — to read metrics (steps,
heart rate, sleep, active calories) you approve.
-
Background tasks — to support timely syncing of
approved data windows, subject to platform limitations.
-
Notifications — to remind you when a window is
due or if attention is needed.
-
Network access — to securely upload data to our
servers.
You can revoke any permission later in your device settings.
Data safety at a glance
-
✔ Data in transit is protected with HTTPS
(TLS). Stored data uses Supabase’s managed database encryption and
access controls.
-
✔ We only collect data categories needed
to run the app and fulfill your choices.
-
✔ You can request
account deletion and
data export at any time via support; deletion
requests are handled manually.
-
✔ We do not sell your
